Depending on the position, testing may consist of a written exam, an oral exam, and/or a practical (demonstration) exam.

In most cases, a formal panel of two to three people serves as the interview's rating panel.

Test and interview results are sent to candidates through email.

Candidates that succeed in the test and/or interview are added to an eligibility list that is forwarded to the hiring department for additional consideration.

The hiring department then conducts finalist/second interviews to help with their ultimate decision.

The recruitment and on boarding procedure is started by human resources.

A conditional offer of employment will be made once the aforementioned stages have been successfully completed. The precise title and pay that the candidate is being given are specified in this Offer.

The candidate will go through a criminal background check and a pre-employment physical examination with a drug test after accepting the offer. A polygraph test and psychological testing are required for several Police Department employment.

These tests are used to evaluate a candidate's suitability for the job.

A final offer of employment is given following administrative review and approval, and the hiring department will work with the applicant to determine the start date, reporting location, and reporting time.
